Greenhouses

Greenhouses are useful for growing plants from seeds and for growing delicate plants that normally would not grow outside in a temperate climate.

Greenhouses come in many shapes and sizes. The frame can be made of wood, metal or plastic and can contain glass or plastic panels. In the summer, it may be necessary to whitewash the panels to help keen the sun from burning plants in the greenhouse.

Greenhouse tip - use wood preserver on your wooden greenhouse every year and it yours too could last 40 years or more!!

If you do not have room for a greenhouse, or your local authority does not allow green houses on allotments, you could consider getting a cold frame for growing your seeds. These come with plastic, metal or wooden frames.
